Jonathon Solomon Mushkegowuk Council Grand Chief

Grand Chief Jonathon Solomon: Elected to the Office of the Grand Chief by the citizens of the Mushkegowuk First Nations in August 2015, Grand Chief Solomon brings extensive knowledge, experience, passion and responsibility to the protection and advancement of our Sacred Treaty Bundle.

In 2011 during his term as the Chief of the Kashechewan First Nation, Chief Solomon played a key and effective role in getting the Ontario government to work towards creating a Treaty Table with Mushkegowuk. On November 27, 2015, as directed by the Mushkegowuk leadership, Grand Chief Solomon was honoured to sign a Treaty Relationship Roundtable Memorandum of Understanding with the Ontario. Grand Chief Solomon is a member of the Kashechewan First Nation and is a proud great grandson of Andrew Wesley….who courageously signed the James Bay Treaty in 1905, and by doing so, secured jurisdiction of our homelands for his future generations.
